Mircom founder Tony Falbo (right) and Mark Falbo, VP of Corporate Development, are targeting U.S. markets.

Mircom's Business Heats Up

Over the past 12 years, Mircom has enjoyed steady growth and is now one of the largest manufacturers of fire alarm safety systems in Canada.  The Vaughan company is expanding once again, buoyed by strong sales and new opportunities in international markets.

"Mircom has done very well in the last ten years as a result of our in-house capabilities," says Tony Falbo, the company's founder.  The need for a larger facility was due to our increased volume of business and a shortage of production space."

The new 82,000-square-foot corporate headquarters of Mircom is located on Interchange Way, next to Highways 407 and 400.  It essentially doubles the space available for the 175 staff working in administration and manufacturing operations.  The new facility becomes the focal point of the company's sales and service activities in the Greater Toronto Area.  Mircom also has satellite offices across Canada and in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Falbo credits Vaughan's skilled labour resource base and its proximity to the company's main markets as factor contributing to Mircom's success.  He is now looking to build up other markets, including the United States, which currently accounts for 25 per cent of company sales.
